We want to extend a thank you for checking out our church! Our family moved here in November of 2021. In the brief time we’ve been here, we have fallen in love with the people of Picayune Church of God, and the city/area of Picayune/Pearl River County. If you’re looking for a church that loves God, seeks Him and His Spirit, and loves one another then you’ve found the right place.
Picayune Church of God strives to be “A Church of Presence.” We are people of presence and desire to host the presence of God in our personal lives, and then be an effective presence in our families, occupations, city, state, nation, and globe.
We are revitalizing our property in stages, working to make this not only an appealing/welcoming place spiritually, but also physically. C.S. Lewis observed, “Forgiveness is a beautiful word, until you have something to forgive.”
If you’ve spent any time in church, you realize the importance of forgiveness. You know that it is a biblical concept, you’ve read verses like our text, and you may even have been warned about the physical, emotional and spiritual consequences of un-forgiveness.
We are so grateful for a God who was willing to take on human form and die an excruciating death so our sins could be forgiven.
Why then, is there such a discrepancy between our understanding of forgiveness and our willingness to grant it to others?

The Gospel of John is a joy to read for all who will engage the material the great John the Apostle is attempting to show us. John is very multifaceted, yet singular in some ways attempting to show Christ as the Son of God, but also attempting to reveal Him in different characteristics. Culpepper says, “The Gospel of John is so multifaceted that only its four primary elements can be explored here: Jesus as Word, Revealer, Redeemer, and Son. ” Though these four elements are described as primary, there are additional synonyms or descriptive additions (titles) that John uses in correlation with these four primary elements. All elements, titles, synonyms etc. that John uses is the goal of showing the whole world why Christ came, to save mankind from their sin, and to show us the Father.
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Through this course we have learned that John distinguished himself and his Gospel from Synoptics. The Synoptics seem to have been written targeting a specific group, whereas the Gospel of John was written for all people, the statement verse of the whole book being John 3:16. John says in chapter 20 that his purpose for writing this is that all who read “would believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” (John 20:30-31). John’s Gospel as a great historical narrative should, tell us the story of Christ with a purpose. Every historian has a purpose in sharing a historical narrative, that is shown true especially in John. The Synoptics showed many miracles of Christ, John showed fewer than they but rather pointed out the signs accompanying His revelation of Christ as the Son of God. The whole Gospel culminates in Jesus’ raising of Lazarus (John 11) and His showing of being Lord over life and death. There are many things that the modern-day Church can draw from this Gospel, but three I will point out in this paper are: God’s revelation of Himself through His Son Jesus; Jesus as Godman leading by example; and unity among Christ’s followers. Petie and a nice string of fish.
In true brotherly fashion Pete says to his older brother Jerry, you
gonna see if they're biting at Game Wardens Point? Nah, say's Jerry,
I think I'm gonna head for the Cork Hole, I caught a nice mess of trout up there
the other day.
Petie is as nice a guy as you will ever want to meet. He is the seventh son of 14 children. He is a Viet Nam veteran and made that tour about the same year I did, 1967, You'll know his boat by name, yep, you guessed it, "The Seventh Son". I've listened to Petie and his friends as they plan for the days fishing and almost always there's a lot of fishing hole names being bandied about. Beside the two names mention above I have heard names like, "The burnt camp", or, "The Redfish Hole", and the list goes on. When I hear people name their fishing holes I wonder just how did they come up with that name. The one named Game Warden Point, Hmmm...."Continued..."

Clapper Rail at low tide.
The high tide was hanging slack when we moved my old flats boat onto a long and narrow grass flat in a
bayou just a couple hundred yards from the Gulf Of Mexico. The water was almost dead still and
beautifully
clear as I cast my topwater plug, a "Bagley's Jumping Mullet", up ahead of the boat and began working it
back
in short jerks, suddenly there was a flat sounding smack and a huge splash were my plug was, a large
fish
had slammed into the plug and in the excitement I jerked too soon and missed the fish. He hit the plug
again and I missed him again. This happened several times until I slowed my response down, and allowed
the
fish to take the plug in his mouth, the other two fishermen in the boat were having no better luck. We
figured these fish had to be big Redfish that we were accustomed to catching on this type tide during
the
spring. Finally, we got the hang of it and what a surprise, these fish were large Speckled Trout ranging
from four to seven pounds and there was a bunch of them. "Continued..."

This is a Whiting, locally called Channel Mullet.
There was a small splash as my slide rig with a 1/0 hook hit the water, I had tipped the hook with a small
piece of shrimp.
I was fishing about 8' from the moss
covered rocks located just off the beach at Grand Isle. We had anchored the boat just off the rock pile
and
were lined up just about dead center on the Grand Isle water tower,
Almost at once there was a tap, tap on the rod and a quick straightening of my 12lb line on my small
spinning rig. I raised the rod quickly and set the hook into a
scrappy little fish that was doing his best to get back to his rock pile. My plan was on its way to
success,
I wanted to catch a mess of the finest table fare fish located in the Gulf of
Mexico. "Continued..."
Revelation 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
I don't have an answer for this one folks, what happens on this planet to put the armies of the nations north and east of Israel on horseback, I don't know. This is as literal as it gets, folks, Jesus himself will be riding a big white horse, so there's horses in heaven for sure. The saints that come back to earth with him are riding on horses. On earth something has to happen to cause this, we give out of fossil fuel on the planet, we fight a war that puts the nations on horseback, everything I say here is pure speculation, and I choose not to do that. If anyone has and information on this I for one, would love to hear it.

Looks like they're fishing is a
prairie but
there's water there.
It was mid morning and Jerry Bourg eases his 20' aluminum boat
right up to the seawall behind Ricky's Motel. He looks up at me and grins
before reaching down in the boat to grab the handles of his ice chest. He
grunts as he lifts the heavy ice chest up
to the top of the seawall. I walk over to see what's in the ice chest as Jerry
proudly opens it up for my viewing. The ice chest was almost full of
some very nice Speckled Trout. This is not unusual for Jerry, I have watched
him many times as he consistently produces great catch's of Speckled Trout
and Redfish, from the marsh's that go on forever around Grand Isle. Where
did'ja catch'em Jerry, I asked and he points to one of the small islands
right across the bay, no more than a quarter mile from the motel. Caught
these on live Croakers, says he, free lining.

Liz with a hefty pair of Bull Redfish.
The question is why stay home in the winter time when the "Bull Reds" are running "HOT" in Caminada
Pass at Grand Isle, the answer is just go fishing for "Winter Time Redfish?
It was late evening when Ricky Bourg, Liz Folse and I climbed into Ricky's 26' Boston Whaler. The boat was tied to the pier behind Ricky's Motel. We pulled away from the pier and headed for Caminada Pass to fish for the huge Bull Reds that had never left the area all winter long. Liz was the first to have a hook in the water baited with cut mullet and I heard her cry out as her muscles strained under the pressure of a 30" plus Bull Redfish, this fish would weight in at 23 to 25 pounds, that's a handful. The fish headed for the bottom with a dogged determination to be free of the hook stuck in his jaw. Liz was making her way from one side of the boat to the other as the fish made heavy runs around the boat. The line stripping sound from the reel's drag made that ever pleasing sound to a fisherman's ears. Finally after several minutes there was the sight of red showing up near the surface and Ricky was trying to find a net or gaff to land this big bruiser. Naturally the men were catching it from Liz, because the girls were ahead of the men, fact is, I think Ricky was having to spend most of his time helping Liz land her fish, but after a while he caught his share, this writer was too busy taking pictures to fish, but I finally got into the action and caught my share, no problem. I think in about an hour we caught and released 6 of these big fellows. "Click the button to read more:".

This fisherman is using an electric knife.
Ok, you've been fishing all day and you've had a successful time of it, you've got an ice chest full of fish to clean. Weather or not this is your first time fishing or not, all those fish have got to be cleaned, so we're here to help you out. We've put together a whole pictorial gallery to show you how to clean your fish with an electric knife, "that's the only way in my humble opion", basically the method is the same wheather you use the electric knife or one of your kitchen knives.
